Arinto Cuvée 750 – Quinta Da Biaia

Tasting Notes

Quinta da Biaia is a historic estate in Castelo Rodrigo in Beira Interior, tracing its documented history to the 17th century when it was associated with Dona Beatriz de Sousa Lopes, affectionately called "Biaia" by the children she cared for — a name that has stayed with the property ever since. Today the estate spans 29 hectares of vineyard at 700 to 750 metres on the slopes of the Serra da Marofa, with soils ranging from clay-loam in the Alvandeira parcels to a granite-schist transition at Souto. The altitude and the mountain's protection from maritime winds create a cold, high-contrast continental climate that produces wines of exceptional acidity. Everything is certified organic and vegan. No synthetic products, no animal-derived fining agents. The Arinto Cuvée 750 is the estate's single-varietal Arinto: fermented in stainless steel, then aged for 8 months in French oak barrels (25% new) with weekly batonnage to build texture and complexity. The 2020 is rich and precise: pineapple, kiwi, papaya and a fine mineral acidity on the nose, deepening to wood-integrated citrus and spice with age. The palate is electrifying, with lively juicy acidity giving the wine real drive and length. Good with fish with sauces, shellfish, grilled seafood and aged goat's cheeses.
