Tasting Notes
Holass is the estate of Gergely Hollósi in Tokaj, working with minimal intervention across biodynamically farmed vineyards in the region. The Tokaj is the estate's principal white: a blend of Furmint and Hárslevelű, the two canonical Tokaj varieties, fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged in Hungarian oak. On the volcanic rhyolite tuff soils that define the region's best sites, Holass produces wines of depth, mineral precision and genuine terroir character. The 2020 vintage was warm and concentrated in Tokaj, giving wines of ripe fruit intensity balanced by the region's natural acidity. The nose shows ripe apple, pear, quince and a fine mineral volcanic note. On the palate it is textured and long, with good structure and a saline finish. Good with freshwater fish, mature cheeses and rich poultry.
