Tasting Notes
Grand-Cras is a lieu-dit in Morgon distinct from the Côte du Py: a parcel on shallower, lighter soils that produces a more immediately accessible and aromatic expression of the appellation. Where the Py is about depth and tension, Grand-Cras is about freshness and fruit — kirsch, raspberry, violet, crushed stone on the nose; a juicy and mineral palate with lighter tannins and a clean Gamay-driven finish. The estate's two Morgon cuvées together illustrate the diversity that the appellation can produce from a single variety on two different geological patches of the same hillside. Good with charcuterie, grilled meats, farmhouse cheeses and lighter Burgundian-style dishes.
