Humus

Humus is a small family winery based in Alvorninha, near Caldas da Rainha. João Luís farms his vineyards organically on clay-limestone soils, with a strong focus on soil health and biodiversity. The approach in the vineyard is patient and observation-driven, while cellar work stays minimal and transparent. Wines are made from local grape varieties and often come from old vines. The overall philosophy is simple: healthy soils lead to balanced, honest wines that reflect their place without excess.
